Naxos is the largest Cycladic Island and has many lovely villages, both in the countryside and by the sea. All are very picturesque and offer hotel accommodations to visitors. The villages of Naxos are ideal for exploration and nonchalant evening strolls.

NAXOS TOWN (CHORA), NAXOS
Naxos Town, otherwise known as Chora, is the capital and port of the island. It is characterized by its traditional Cycladic architecture and its very well-developed tourist infrastructure, which make it very popular with visitors from all over the world.

Naxos Town is surrounded by many beautiful beaches, some of which are considered the finest in the Cyclades Island Cluster. It also has many interesting archaeological sites such as the Portara, the ancient site in Grotta and the Venetian Castle, as well as many museums. A nonchalant stroll through the town is an unforgettable experience and an excellent opportunity to take in the traditional beauty of the Cyclades.

Throughout the capital there are many nightlife and dining venues, such as clubs, bars, cafés tavernas and restaurants. For the shopping enthusiasts there are countless shops that sell a wide variety of goods, from the traditional island souvenirs to designer clothing and jewelry.

From Naxos Town, visitors can travel by bus to other areas on the island or rent a car or motorbike from the many rental agencies nearby the port. The range of accommodation in Chora and the nearby resort of Agios Georgios (St. George) is astounding, as the town provides hotels, apartments, rooms for rent, studios, pensions, suites and traditional houses for every need and budget.

AGIA ANNA – AGIOS PROKOPIOS, NAXOS
The seaside settlements of Agia Anna and Agios Prokopios, located south of Naxos Town, are two of the most popular resorts due to their exquisite beaches and their abundance of hotels, rooms for rent, apartments and studios. Both villages have clear waters and are particularly loved by water sports aficionados.

AGIOS ARSENIOS, NAXOS
The village of Agios Arsenios is located in a fertile plain, on the western side of the island, just a few kilometers from the beaches and villages of Agios Prokopios and Agia Anna. The main advantage of Agios Arsenios is that it offers an inland village environment, while located close to the sea with excellent hotel accommodation. In the village there are lovely churches and an impressive Venetian Castle.

APIRATHOS, NAXOS
The mountain settlement of Apiranthos, built in the middle of the island, is a very picturesque area, with lovely traditional stone houses, marble alleyways and quaint squares. The inhabitants speak their own dialect and still keep many of the old customs and activities of their ancestors, such as weaving. The main attractions of Apiranthos are the Zevgoli Castle, which was built in the 17th century, and the three museums.

APOLLONAS, NAXOS
Apollonas is a picturesque fishing village located in northeastern Naxos. It possesses a stunning sand and pebble beach and is gradually developing into a favorite vacation spot for those who seek more peaceful holidays. In Apollonas visitors can see the Kouros of Apollo, which is located near the entrance of the settlement.

CHALKI, NAXOS
Chalki is one of the most fertile Naxos villages, located at the heart of the island. In earlier times it was the capital and the commercial center of Naxos, and is full of lovely manors and other impressive structures. The area has many interesting sites such as churches, Venetian castles and a traditional citrus distillery.

EGGARES, NAXOS
Eggares is a beautiful inland village with lush vegetation, close to Naxos Town. Apart from the village’s natural beauty, the area also attracts visitors who come to see the ruins of the Mycenaean tombs and the monasteries. Eggares village is a well-developed area, with several hotels, apartments, villas and rooms for rent.

FILOTI, NAXOS
Filoti, one of the most prominent villages in Naxos, is located on Mount Zas, in the center of the island. It is bustling with life and has several significant sites such as the ancient tower of Chimarros, the cave of Za and the tower of Barotsi. Filoti is also a lovely spot for coffee or a meal.

KORONOS, NAXOS
The village of Koronos is located in inland Naxos, at the foot of Mount Koronos. It is a very quaint settlement, with a beautiful church, many whitewashed houses and steps and paths that wind amongst the buildings.

MELANES, NAXOS
Melanes village is situated in a valley, surrounded by fruit trees and lush vegetation, making it a wonderful area for nature walks. It is considered one of the loveliest villages of inland Naxos. Its main attractions are the Kouros in the Flerio area and the Venetian towers

MIKRI VIGLA, NAXOS
The seaside settlement of Mikri Vigla is well-known for its dazzling sandy beach and azure waters. It attracts many windsurfers due to the ideal weather conditions in the area. Mikri Vigla also provides a number of taverns and restaurants where visitors can enjoy a drink or a meal with a view of the sea.

ORKOS, NAXOS
The settlement of Orkos is a quiet area, with much natural beauty. It is usually preferred by those who seek a relaxing and carefree vacation and by windsurfers due to the superb weather conditions at the beach. Its lovely sand and pebble beach is lined with cedar trees. Orkos offers several hotels and rooms for rent and a few dining venues.

PLAKA, NAXOS
The seaside settlement of Plaka is located on the western side of Naxos and is well-known for its beautiful white sands. In the past years it has become a favorite holiday resort of visitors of the island, as it offers a wide selection of hotels, apartments, studios and suites, as well as tavernas, restaurants and bars.

SAGRI, NAXOS
Towards the center of Naxos, built in a fertile area, is the settlement of Sagri. Most people visit the village to see the impressive churches, the windmills and the Venetian towers. Nearby in the Gyroula area, is the sanctuary of Demetra and Apollo, which are a sightseeing must during your visit on Naxos Island.

STELIDA, NAXOS
The village of Stelida is situated just a few kilometers from the capital town, in a beautiful bay area. It is also very close to the popular Naxos villages and beaches of Agios Prokopios and Agia Anna. Stelida has a lovely sandy beach and offers numerous hotels, apartments and rooms for rent.

TRIPODES, NAXOS
The settlement of Tripodes is situated in the south of Naxos and is considered one of the most picturesque villages on the island, with its narrow paved alleyways, abandoned windmills and other traditional features. Its main attraction is the Church of Panagia Tripodiotissa, from which the village takes its name.
