While in Sithonia, Halkidiki Greece, we suggest taking a tour of the peninsula to get acquainted with its amazing natural beauty and to visit some of its splendid sites.

Begin at Nikiti, a very scenic town located on the northwestern coast of Sithonia, where you can stroll among the traditional stone-brick houses and visit the Paleo-Christian Basilica, the Church of the Assumption of the Virgin and the small nearby isle of Kastri. In the seaside resort of Neos Marmaras, make a stop at the 9 th century settlement of Parthenonas, or go to the isle of Kelyfos by tour boat to see the ancient Roman ruins. Neos Marmaras can also be your starting point for a wonderful nature walk to the pine area of "Psaria" and to Itamos Hill. At close proximity to Neos Marmaras is the Porto Carras complex, where you can visit its winery, stables and private marina.

In the village of Toroni, visitors can see two stunning sites: the remains of the Toroni Castle and the Paleo-Christian Basilica of Agios Athanasios. A must during your stay is a visit to the Xiropotamos Monastery in the lovely coastal village of Sarti, and to the ruins of the Ancient Temple and the 19 th century windmills in Sykia. Off the northeastern coast are a number of small islands. From Vourvourou you can take a boat tour around the islands.

Sithonia Nightlife
In the peninsula of Sithonia Halkidiki, visitors are provided with a wide range of entertainment and dining venues that cater to everyone's taste. Most Sithonia villages have a few bars, cafes and tavernas where you can enjoy a quiet meal or drink. For nightlife, we suggest going to Neos Marmaras, Nikiti and Sarti, where you will find a number of clubs, bars and music cafes by the seaside.

Local Festivals & Events in Sithonia
For a taste of the traditions and customs of Sithonia Halkidiki, we recommend participating in some of the cultural and religious festivals that take place in the region. Nikiti is famous for its athletic event "The Crossing of the Toronean Gulf", which takes place every year in July. In Neos Marmaras, the name day of Agios Panteleimon is celebrated on July 27. On August 15 in Sarti, a celebration is held for Panagia (The Virgin Mary). In September, the village of Porto Koufo hosts a festival called "The Fishing of the Tuna".
